Baba G.T. Lye is a revered figure in Peranakan theatre. Since his first performance in 1984, he has shaped the art form over the decades.
Renowned for his iconic matriarch roles, he has acted in, written, and mentored younger actors in over 23 plays.
In 2020, he was honoured as a Steward of Singapore’s Intangible Cultural Heritage for his lifelong contribution to wayang Peranakan.
