We are pleased to announce that the 37th Baba Nyonya International Convention will be held in Penang, Malaysia. Our sister association, State Chinese Penang Association (SCPA) is the organiser of the convention this year.
Organiser’s Message:
This year, the Convention returns to Penang, bringing together Peranakan communities across the globe in a celebration of heritage, fellowship and living traditions. This year’s theme “Unveiling the Peranakan Within” invites delegates to look beyond the many roles and identities of everyday life and reconnect with the heart and spirit of being Peranakan. The Convention programme combines meaningful cultural exchange with immersive experiences that showcase the richness of Penang’s Peranakan culture. Delegates will be welcomed at the Esplanade for “Dondang Sayang, a Peranakan Street Soiree”, a lantern-lit evening inspired by the nostalgic atmosphere of Chap Goh Meh, featuring Penang’s sedap-licious hawker fare and the timeless melodies of Dondang Sayang. The gala dinner, “Grace Behind the Mask – A Peranakan Masquerade Ball”, marks the first black-tie gala in the Convention’s 37-year history. Elegant yet playful, the evening reimagines the Masquerade as a celebration of the many layers of culture, memory, and grace that shape the Peranakan experience. More than a Convention, this gathering unveils the heart of the Peranakan spirit, leaving delegates with a renewed sense of what matters most, and how each of their stories continues to weave together a living masterpiece of the vibrant Peranakan community.

1. Non-members must be accompanied by a member. Membership rates only apply if you are a member at the point of registration.

4. AIR/LAND TRAVEL TO/FROM PENANG WILL NOT BE PROVIDED SO PARTICIPANTS ARE TO MAKE THEIR OWN TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS.
5. TPAS is not the organiser. SCPA is the organiser and responsible for providing the Convention programme.
6. TPAS will not be liable for any loss of personal property or any injury during the event.
7. Once payment has been made and registration is confirmed, there will strictly be no refunds (special cases will be subject to the organisers). In the event you need to cancel your attendance, please find a replacement as best as possible.
