In this month’s video, I am joined by Baba Alvin Teo, president of our sister association Gunong Sayang Association (GSA) and Baba Raymond Wong, TPAS Assistant Honorary Treasurer.
In this video, Baba Alvin talks about the opening of the GSA clubhouse in Marine Parade on 5 August 2023 and shares that the GSA focus is on Peranakan theatrical and performing arts. He announces that the GSA is now in the thick of preparing for the next Wayang Peranakan which is scheduled to be staged sometime next year , details of which will be shared on the GSA’s social media channels closer to the date.
Baba Raymond shares that the adult kebaya workshop planned for 2 Sept 2023 (Sat) at The Peranakan Museum is in response to numerous requests following the success of the anak kebaya workshop conducted earlier in the year. During the workshop, he will share the history of the kebaya, and this will be followed by a hands-on activity whereby the participants will get to design their own kebaya. There are limited spaces left so please register quickly with events@peranakan.org.sg if you are interested.
