The Peranakan Association Singapore is proud to support the Singapore Red Cross

The Peranakan Association Singapore (TPAS) will be taking part in the Singapore Red Cross International Bazaar 2023 organised by the Singapore Red Cross (SRC) that will be held at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza on 18 November 2023, with Singapore’s President Halimah Yacob, Patron of the Singapore Red Cross, as the Guest-of-Honour.

The Bazaar will involve diplomatic missions, local and international enterprises, civic groups and schools to raise funds for SRC’s local humanitarian services. The International Bazaar is a tradition of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, and is a signature fundraising event organised by numerous National Societies around the world.

The Bazaar will have between 80 to 100 stalls, bringing together people from different backgrounds to shop and interact for a good cause. The SRC aims to raise $500,000 to support their local humanitarian services from the Bazaar.

TPAS’ president, Genevieve Peggy Jeffs served on the committee of the International Red Cross when she lived in the UK and helped to raise funds for the London organisation. Upon her return to Singapore, Peggy has been chair of the Singapore Red Cross gala dinner and bazaar organising committees from 2007 till to date.

TPAS will be setting up a stall at the Bazaar to sell Peranakan clothing and paraphernalia to showcase Peranakan culture and to help the SRC in its humanitarian efforts. As such, TPAS would be most grateful if you would donate any of the following, whether new or pre-loved in fairly good condition, for TPAS to sell at its stall:

– sarongs
– kebayas
– kerosangs
– Peranakan jewellery, belts
– kasut maneks
– beaded handbags
– batik shirts
– batik dresses
– batiks

Please first send a photograph of what you wish to donate to Ngiam May Ling at mobile no. 9741 0610 soonest and if it is suitable for the Bazaar, she will let you know where to have it delivered to.

TPAS looks forward to your support for this event.
