    Hi,

Last week there's an article in TODAY requesting people to suggest what in special in Singapore that should be listed in UNESCO.

I feel Katong should be it.  Coz it has a long history background.  It was already there before Singapore was independent.

Many Peranakan artitecture with dates on like 1936, 1925 on the buildings.  Holy Family Church with its 100 year old marble statue from Europe is still there. etc...

Proximity to Geylang Serai Market, which is known that Peranakans and many Katong residents would go there for marketing their rempah ingredients.

Most importantly, many ex-Singaporeans recognised the fact Singapore has changed tremendously.  Only Katong is still much there.  Its rustic feeling and its still organic. While sadly Chinatown to them they described it as commercialised and inorganic.

    Dont you think so?
